The need of treasuring the family bond

Human interaction can only bear positive fruits when a bond is created. In a family, a natural bond is created whose values should be treasured. St. Pope John Paul II says, “Created in the image and likeness of God, man cannot fully ‘find himself’ except through the sincere gift of self . Without such a concept of man, of the person and the ‘communion of persons’ in the family, there can be no civilization of love; similarly, without the civilization of love, it is impossible to have such a concept of person and the communion of persons.” Why is the an emphasis on the communion of persons in a family, and relate it to your own family? Think of yourself in front of a mirror. What makes it possible to see yourself? The light creates a bond between the physical person and the surface of the mirror to bring the reflection that we see. In the case of our families, the love for each other creates a bond that results in our communion or lack of love, which causes disunity.

The Psalmist aptly said, “How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard,

on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion .For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore.”

CALISCO trusts your ability to commit greater communion within your family and its members. What is important is to remind ourselves that others reflect to us who we are. Let us take the challenge of ensuring that our family members help us to be who we should be.
