The role of the family

The family is the core institution that has the greatest influence on an individual child. St. Pope John Paul II says, “the Christian family is the first community called to announce the Gospel to the human person during growth and to bring him or her, through a progressive education and catechesis, to full human and Christian maturity.” This is in line with what the Scripture teaches: “Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray” (Proverbs 22:6).

The family should never relinquish this special role. If we invest in the spiritual matters of our children, they will grow empowered with moral values. John Paul II adds, “as an educating community, the family must help man to discern his vocation and to accept responsibility in the search for greater justice, educating him from the beginning in interpersonal relationships, rich in justice and love.” Thus, the education in the family can give children a competitive advantage in the job market that is leaning on ethical standards at work.

CALISCO values the involvement of families in educating their children. It is possible to revive family education for a better future for our children.
